The purpose of the Tampaction campaign is to educate femstrators and non-femstrators alike about the harmful effects of tampons and disposable pads on yourself and the environment. It's also become an education campaign about overall health. We promote taking the health of your body into your own hands, and to no longer rely on the medical community to find out when you're sick or what you might have that's "wrong". We show female-bodied folks how to preform self-gynecological exams, and what a healthy cervix vs. non-healthy cervix looks like. We have decided to strategize around local health issues (i.e. continuing with our campaigns to get alternatives in campus bookstores or health food stores; but also keeping up with campus health clinics, health departments, free clinics, midwifery clinics, etc). We want to provide experienced organizers to train new organizers and to help develop strategies around local issues that individual collectives identify. With a strong education base and the opportunity for true organizing and goal-setting, we think that tampaction can thrive as a campaign.
